Some of the signs that your pet may require urgent medical attention include:
- Difficulty breathing
- Ingestion of a foreign object or toxic substance
- Broken bones
- Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
- Vomiting or diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours
- Bleeding
- Trauma, such as a fall or being hit by a car
- Swollen or tender abdomen
- Difficulty urinating
- Lameness
- Disorientation
- Foaming at the mouth
- Convulsions/seizures
- Loss of consciousness
If you notice any of these signs, seek immediate help. At JAM Veterinary Services, we always recommend calling ahead when an emergency occurs. This allows us to assess the situation, provide first aid instructions over the phone, and prepare for your pet’s arrival. For emergencies that occur outside of our normal business hours, please contact us for our on-call service.
